"Don't date a man who won't write poetry for you." Sage advice from the grandmother of our lovely bride. This is the story of Beth and Ian, an amazing young couple from Louisiana inspired by architecture, nature, and love. Each wedding is unique and special; as is the couple's story behind it. These two met like many--through to a dating website. Little did they know that coffee date after successive coffee date would result in a deeper connection as they started falling for each other. For Beth, it was visceral; she felt that je ne sais quoi. For Ian, he was so inspired that he penned love poems to her. Ladies, take note, if a gentleman in this day and age does that--he is a keeper! Beth's grandfather used to do this for her grandmother when he was courting her. Beth's "Mimi" having uttered those wise words to her at a tender age cemented how she would feel about Ian. It was kismet.

Now, you may ask, 'Why did this Louisiana couple travel so far for their wedding?' the obvious answer is it is beautiful, warm weather, and Ian has family in San Diego. Southern California offers much in terms of weddings, but it was the stunning Wayfarer's Chapel that piqued this interior design intern's curiosity. While researching her thesis in design school, Beth happened upon articles covering the chapel. When the time came for the romantic Ian to propose, Beth knew the 1951 chapel built by Lloyd Wright (Frank's son) would be the perfect spot to exchange their vows. This inclusive chapel also welcomes couples from all faiths to hold their ceremony here.

Having fallen in love with the organic architecture of the Wayfarer's, which means nature is the framework, and the chapel's welcoming policy, Beth instantly knew this was the place. They couldn't resist adding a modern twist being lovers of design. Ian and Beth also found the Venue by Three Petals in Huntington Beach; a stark contrast from the vintage architecture of Wayfarer's; a blank slate for them to chose how they wanted to design their wedding and impress their guests. They took advantage of the full HD video wall to project their names and wedding date! With the help of her amazingly organized, calm, talented, and all around superstar planner/designer Taryn Collins of SoCal Wedding Consultant, Beth and Ian were able to pull off a Palos Verdes ceremony and Orange County reception as out-of-towners.

Nature was also very important to the couple. Green is Beth's favorite color, and the chapel is surrounded by lushious greenery and redwoods. So of course her bridesmaids would don green gowns by Unique Vintage. The fabric texture and color paired harmoniously with jewelry by Balance Bead & Tassel, a Louisiana shop and friend of the couple who helped Beth vet the perfect accessories for her and her bridesmaids. And the bride's gown by Maggie Sottero--va va va voom-it really was a perfect blend of modern and vintage in look.

As breathtaking as the Wayfarer's Chapel is, the couple's reception was held at a gorgeous, modern space, but it also continued these trends. if you check out her amazing cascading bouquet and centerpieces by Flower Allie you can instantly surmise that nature was carefully woven throughout their wedding. Even grounds at The Venue by Three Petals boast a healthy amount of greenery. And we just LOVE the boxwood wall where her cake table elegantly sat in front of. A true contrast of old and new, yet cohesive. Our 1960's vintage pink cake stand and our vintage candlesticks from England add those old touches from yesteryear to her modern reception. Her fancy and on-trend drip cake with figs by Melody's Bakery is super contemporary (and we heard delicious). Beth also tied in elements of old and new at her guest book table. She incorporated our geometric envelope holder with one of our working vintage typewriters so guests could type "love notes" to her and Ian. We're certain they received many. The report from Taryn, Ian and Beth's planner, was the typewriter was so fun it was more popular than many photo booths she has seen at weddings she's planned.

Friends and family surrounded the couple -- many traveled from Louisiana and Texas -- happy at the chance to have a blast and celebrate Beth and Ian as they entered this new chapter in their lives together. Talk about squad goals! From the party bus by Reserve Limo Global, to the chapel, to the reception, Beth and Ian always kept their guests' enjoyment in mind. We know they won't forget that breathtaking chapel, the fun bus, the sleek reception, and of course more than anything, the darling couple.

Wish you lots of love and happiness. With love and gratitude. xo, Provenance Rentals
